Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura (APC), representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District at the National Assembly (NASS) said the peaceful disposition of Migili people made him created more chiefdoms for them one week to his exit as governor in 2019.
Senator Al-Makura, made the disclosure over the weekend when he hosted a group known as Migili Support Group for Al-Makura, from Lafia East, in Lafia, the state capital.
In a statement issued by Senator Al-Makura media aide, Mr Danjuma Joseph, recalled that the chiefdoms created by his boss were Musha, carved out of Migili chiefdom in Obi LGA, while Ashige, was created out of Assakio Chiefdom in Lafia East Development Area.
“I created more chiefdoms barely one week to my exit as a governor because of their disposition as peace makers. This can never happen anywhere, but I found it necessary to reward your people because any where a Migili man is, he is peaceful.
“Despite the fact that Migili people didn’t vote me for senate in 2019, I decided to reward them because they are naturally peaceful, humble, focused and unanimous in their decision”
Senator Al-Makura, said apart from chiefdoms, as a governor he constructed the feeder road linking Agyaragu and Doma, saying he has also appointed their prominent sons and daughters into various positions.
He assured that the road linking Agyaragu and Kwara (Okpari), started by him as a Senator, would be completed to ease the suffering of the people in that axis.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Philip Adoga Ashige, said the aim of the group is to canvass support for the Senator for his second term ambition.
Senator Al-Makura, according to him, has performed beyond expectations both as a governor and Senator, hence the need to return him back to do more for the zone.
