The former deputy governor of Zamfara state and two-time senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Muhammad Hassan has picked the All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial expression of interest and nominations form ready to return to the national assembly in 2027.
Hassan’s entourage expressed openness to both consensus and direct primary modes of candidate selection, stressing that the priority should be choosing credible leaders capable of addressing the state’s pressing challenges.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists after picking the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination forms, supporters of Senator Muhammad Hassan said they have no objection to whichever option the party adopts, provided the process produces leaders who can effectively represent the people.
“We have no problem with either approach. Sometimes it can be a consensus, and sometimes we go for direct primaries. What we have in mind is to always contribute our quota in building the nation,” he said.
They noted that Zamfara State is currently facing significant socio-economic and security challenges, making it imperative to elect representatives who understand the realities on the ground and can articulate the needs of the people.
“It is obvious to us that Zamfara State has a lot of problems. So, we need people who can speak on our behalf, someone who can represent our aspirations and our problems. That is why we are here,” he added.
The supporters reaffirmed confidence in the senatorial aspiration of Senator Muhammad Hassan, describing him as a seasoned and experienced leader with a strong political track record.
The development comes amid ongoing political consultations and alignments ahead of future electoral activities in the state, as stakeholders continue to weigh options for candidate emergence within party structures.
