The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released the timetable for its 2026 primary elections, setting out the guidelines and requirements for the nomination of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, on Sunday, May 3, the ADC said the timetable reflects its commitment to internal democracy, orderliness, and compliance with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
According to the schedule, the collection of application forms began on April 1 and will end on May 4, 2026. The sale of nomination forms is fixed for May 5 to May 10, while submission of completed forms will take place from May 11 to May 13.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 14 and May 15, with the publication of screening results on May 17. The party said appeals arising from the screening process will be heard between May 18 and May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.
The party’s primary elections will begin on May 21 with the conduct of State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate primaries at the ward level.
Governorship primaries are slated for May 22, while the presidential primary will hold on May 25.
The timetable also provides for a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26, followed by a Special National Convention on May 27, where final ratifications are expected to be made.
ADC also announced the approved fees for nomination forms across elective offices. “The presidential nomination form will cost N100 million, governorship N50 million, Senate N20 million, House of Representatives N10 million, while State House of Assembly aspirants will pay N3 million.”
To encourage broader participation, ADC approved concessions for certain categories of aspirants. “Youths will receive a 50 per cent discount, while women and persons with disabilities will enjoy a 25 per cent reduction.
“The party urged all members, stakeholders and aspirants to comply strictly with the timetable and guidelines, saying the process is aimed at strengthening its preparations for the 2027 general elections and positioning the party as a platform for accountable and people-focused leadership,”
