The development follows sustained efforts by the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and other industry stakeholders to strengthen maritime security and ensure full compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

The lifting of the 12-year restriction is expected to boost the competitiveness of Nigerian ports, improve vessel turnaround time and schedule reliability, reduce additional security-related costs, and enhance Nigeria’s standing in the global shipping industry.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, commended the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, and other stakeholders for their contributions towards achieving the significant milestone.

The development underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to building a safer, more secure, efficient and globally competitive maritime sector.

A safer, more secure and competitive Nigerian maritime sector.
