NHRC Raises Alarm Over Official X Account Compromise

Abuja (Core Reporters) – The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised the alarm over the compromise of its official X account, saying it is currently under the unauthorised control of an individual or account operating as @ephesus_lib.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Corporate Affairs and External Linkages, Fatimah Mohammed Agwai, on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The statement reads in part: “The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) wishes to inform members of the general public, development partners, stakeholders, and the media that its official X (formerly Twitter) account has been compromised and is currently under the unauthorised control of an individual/account operating as @ephesus_lib.
“Accordingly, the Commission does not authorise, endorse, or take responsibility for any posts, statements, messages, links, or other content currently being published from the compromised account.
“The public and all partners are therefore advised to exercise caution and disregard any communication emanating from the account until further notice.
“The Commission is taking appropriate steps to address the compromise and restore control of its official X account.
“The NHRC will notify the general public and its partners through its verified and established communication channels once an official medium on X is available.
“The Commission regrets any inconvenience this development may cause and appreciates the understanding and continued cooperation of the public, partners, and stakeholders.”
