Giadom Mourns Daniel Orbih, Describes Him as Bridge-Builder and Political Colossus

Abuja (Core Reporters)- The National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Victor Giadom, has mourned the death of Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing him as a brother, compatriot, bridge-builder and distinguished public servant.

Giadom, in a condolence message issued on Wednesday, expressed deep sadness over the passing of Orbih, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an illustrious son of the Etsako Nation in Edo State.

He extended his condolences to Orbih’s wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings and the entire Orbih family.

According to Giadom, Orbih was more than a political associate, describing him as a brother and compatriot with whom he shared a long and cherished history.

He said Orbih’s warmth, courage, wisdom, generosity and commitment to public service left an enduring impression on those who knew and worked with him.

Giadom also recalled Orbih’s role in the cross-party political movement known as the “Rainbow Coalition,” championed by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

He said Orbih worked closely with members of the coalition in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Giadom noted that Orbih’s contribution to the political initiative demonstrated his political sagacity, commitment to national interest and willingness to build bridges across partisan divides.

Beyond politics, Giadom highlighted Orbih’s contributions to society and humanity, noting that he was honoured with several traditional titles across different communities.

Among the titles, he listed The Kulukulu 1 of Ogoni Land, The Oduma of Uzairue, The Agbokhaivho II of Avianwu Clan, Enakhaimhoi of Anegbete, Esama of Uromi and Eze Oha 1 of Mburubu.

He said the honours reflected the respect and esteem Orbih commanded across communities.

“​​With his passing, the Etsako Nation, Edo State and Nigeria have lost an illustrious son, a bridge-builder and a man of considerable courage, character and influence,” Giadom said.

He added that although Orbih’s death had created a void that would be difficult to fill, his contributions to public life and the memories he left behind would remain indelible.

Giadom prayed that God would grant Orbih eternal rest and give his family, friends, political associates and other mourners the strength and comfort to bear the loss.

“Rest in peace, my brother and compatriot. Your memory will remain cherished, and you will be deeply missed,” he said.
