Nasarawa Police Bans Sale, Use of “Knockouts”
…Order Crackdown on Defaulters
The Nasarawa State Police Command has placed a ban on the use, sale, possession, and distribution of fireworks, “knockouts,” and all forms of explosive pyrotechnics.
This was contained in a statement by the Nasarawa police command police public relations officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
The statement said, “The Nasarawa State Police Command hereby reiterates that the use, sale, possession, and distribution of fireworks, “knockouts,” and all forms of explosive pyrotechnics remain strictly prohibited across the State.
“This enforcement has become necessary to maintain public order, prevent panic, and deny criminal-minded elements any opportunity to exploit the sounds of explosive devices to perpetrate unlawful acts.”
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Units, and the Command’s Intelligence Department to immediately intensify patrols and surveillance to ensure full compliance. Violators of this order will be made to face the full weight of the law.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police calls on shop owners and dealers, as well as parents and guardians, to ensure that their wards desist from the use and handling of these prohibited items.
