By Francis Nansak,Lafia
Some notable aspirants  and winners of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries election conducted penultimate months ago were handed over the party flag at the  kicked off of campaigns in Nasarawa state while other may have to with untill they are out of court.
This became obvious owing to petitions filed  by some aggrieved contestants who had discredited the process that led to announcing those the party maintained as candidates to be field in for the  2023 general election.
At the wake of the APC flag off of the governorship campaign at Toto Local Government Area of the State on Monday, the governor announced that instead of issuing out the party flags to candidates who are still in court ,he will rather wait untill such cases are cleared by the court .
The announcement which almost caused a stir  among  supporters of the APC in Toto, who chanted against the decision not to issue out the party flag to their preferred candidates,in Keffi, the governor issued out flags to candidates without cases in court.
Those affected by the governor’s decision  not to crown them with the party’s flag ,whose victory is being challenge in  court are Hon, Ari a sitting house of representative member, hono Okpoku, representing Loko/Udege, Honourable Hajara Danyaro, and Honourable Ismeel, representing Nasarawa central constituency.
However , the governor handed over the party flag to honourable Koro Auta in Keffi, who is contesting to represent Keffi, Kokona and Karu Federal constituency, while Architect Shehu Tukur ,who was earlier declared winner of the Senate position for Nasarawa west was denied the flag ,as his faith is yet to be determined by the court, as filed by his co contestant Barrister Labaran Shuaibu Magaji.
According to the governor” We are a law abiding party and will not work against the court decision, this is why some of our contestant will not be issued the party flag, untill we get the clear position of the court on their matter.
” This does not also mean that we are leaving them out of their desire to represent their people as faithful members of the APC, we had actually advised against going to court after the primary, but in the quest for seeking equity, they are in court, which is by their right, you can not say no to them.so untill they are through in court and whoever the court declared as winner the party chairman  will crown him or her as our rightful candidate for the 2023 general election” the governor posited.
Our correspondent report that the flag off of campaigns in Keffi recorded a large crowd of supporters who pledges to return governor Sule elected in the 2023 election, those that supported the reflection of the governor include the Nigeria Labour Congress, NANS and groups of women and youths
