The police in Uke Division of Karshi Development Area, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State averted what would have resulted to lost of lives and properties, as youths of Agwan Tofa and some Tricycle riders popularly known as (Yan-keke) clashed on Wednesday.
Report reaching our Correspondent had it that but for the quick intervention of mem and officers of the police force there would have been lost of properties and lives as a result of the fracas, between tricycle riders and Anwan Tofa’s youths. The reported added that the “Yan-keke” had mobilized their members from Mararaba to joined them in the fight.
The village head, Ayuba Danbaki,who spoke with our reporter confirmed that only God knows what the situation would have looked like if not for the prompt intervention of the police.
According to the village head ,the problem started at about 10am on Tuesday between the youths and the Keke riders, as it spilled over to Wednesday morning, leaving many residents of Angwan Tofa scampering for safety.
” This is a problem that started last (Tuesday) night only for us to wake up today (Wednesday) morning to discovered that it was getting worst and tension were rising everywhere, but as God will have it, the police had quelled it down.
” When the problem started last night I summoned the four boys who are our children in the community to know what was the problem, but unknown to me that the Keke riders had their plans on ground untill this morning when they started harassing and beating people up.
” One of my brother was beaten and he got wounded,as the Keke boys had invited their counterparts who came with weapons; matchet, knives and sticks,but with the help of the police whom we got in touched with, the situation is calm now,” he added.
The village head called on the state government to as a matter of urgency consider the deployment of some security operatives to the area ,while thanking the police for their quick intervention.
