Members of the Kogi State Journalists forum at the National Assembly, Abuja have advices all the political parties in the state to be more careful ahead of primary elections coming up in the state.
In the press statement jointly signed by the forum’s chairman and secretary, Comrade Michael Agbaji and Mr Michael Shaibu, the forum advice was as a result of alleged plans by some powerful politicians in the state to in posed their anointed political sons on others during the primaries.
According to the statement, the habit of rotational arrangements in the state has more disadvantages than the advantages as it will be difficult for first timers to take position of leadership at both Federal House of Reps and State House of Assembly.
The forum adviced the politicians in the state to learn from their Northern colleagues who have given opportunity to their members at the national assembly to excel.
The statement however, adviced governor Yahaya Bello, the leader of the ruling party in the state to intervene on the matter and ensure free and fair primaries in the state.
The statement further says, no doubt some legislators from Kogi State are bench warmers at their respective chambers, adding that though some have done well, while pleading that those that have done well should be given more opportunities to continue so that they can gain more experiences.
They called on the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu to the warned politicians in the state against any form of imposition of candidates in the forthcoming Kogi APC primaries.
