The immediate past minister of sports, Barr. Solomon Dalung and veteran broadcast journalist, Dr. Amaechi Anakwue of DAAR Communication will be speaking at the second edition of Olajide Fashikun memorial lecture on Wednesday.

The event which is put together by Friends of Jide in conjunction with the NUJ (FCT Council) and FCT SWAN is with the theme; “Building Lasting Legacies with Journalism.

In a press statement signed by Sylvanus Ofekun for the Organisers stated that the event is slated to hold at the premises of the FCT Council of the NUJ on Wednesday by 12 noon, adding that it will be in full compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines.

The statement read in part, “We are glad to announce the second memorial lecture for our late friend and colleague, Mr.Olajide Fashikun who died on 27th January, 2019.

“This year’s edition will be held at the secretariat of the NUJ FCT council, Utako Abuja and in full compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines,” the statement reads.

However, the organizers expressed happiness to the leadership of the NUJ FCT Council led by Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche and the FCT SWAN, led by Comrade Chidoka Nwabueze for their unflinching support.

It will be recalled that the late media icon, Fashikun died on January 27, 2019 after a brief illness.
