APC NWC Waives Screening for President Tinubu Ahead of Primaries
By Our APC Correspondent
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at its 188th meeting held on Wednesday, resolved to waive the screening requirements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, declaring him duly screened for participation in the party’s forthcoming primary elections.
According to the party, the decision was taken pursuant to Article 13.4 (xiii) and (xiv) of the APC Constitution, which empowers the NWC to organise and supervise party primaries and, in special circumstances, grant waivers in the best interest of the party.
The NWC said the President had already received overwhelming endorsements and votes of confidence from key stakeholders within the party, including the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), members of the National Assembly, and other party organs during the APC National Summit held on May 22, 2025, as well as at other statutory meetings of the party.
The committee further noted that President Tinubu, as the incumbent President and leader of the party, had previously undergone screening and clearance ahead of the 2022 APC presidential primaries, making another physical appearance before a screening panel unnecessary.
