Yobe 2027: Tumsah Submits APC Nomination Form, Promises Change

Kashim Musa Tumsah has submitted his nomination form to contest the governorship election in Yobe State, saying his decision to join the race is driven by the people’s desire for change and a renewed direction for the state.
Speaking with journalists after submitting his forms, Tumsah said growing calls from residents for new leadership motivated his decision to enter the contest.
“The people desire change and they have asked for something different. That is why we are contesting,” he said.
According to him, the change he is offering will touch every sector of the state’s development.
“We want to move the state from where it is today to the next level so that we can compete with other states in our region,” he said.
On the issue of consensus, Tumsah said his understanding of the Electoral Act is that anyone who purchases and submits nomination forms automatically becomes an aspirant, and any consensus arrangement should only emerge through agreement among those aspirants.
“My understanding of consensus under the Electoral Act is that those who have purchased and submitted nomination forms become aspirants. Consensus should therefore be among the aspirants to decide who should represent the party,” he said.
He argued that consensus should not be used as a basis for imposing a candidate.
“It should not be a situation where somebody is picked somewhere and then announced as the candidate. That is why we insist there should be a direct process so that the people of Yobe can decide and choose who they want to govern them,” he added.
Speaking on his vision for the state, Tumsah said he wants to see a Yobe that can compete favourably with other states in social, economic and cultural development.
“My vision is to see a state that competes with other states. Currently, Yobe is behind in many aspects of social and cultural development, and we are determined to change that,” he said.
