Breaking! PVC Collection: INEC Urges Eligible Voters Across 36 States to Wait For Official Communication
By Raphael Ekpang
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised residents across the 36 states of the federation, excluding the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to wait for official communication from the commission for the collection of the Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
This, the commission said, is to avoid relying on unverified information. INEC made this known through its official and verified X handle (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
The statement reads: “Dear Residents of other states, the current PVC collection exercise applies only to the FCT, ahead of the February 21, 2026 Area Council Election.
“For other states, the dates for PVC collection have not yet been fixed by the Commission. Once the schedule is finalized, it will be officially announced on all INEC platforms.
“We urge all eligible voters in other states to wait for official communication and avoid relying on unverified information.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” the statement concluded.
