NOA Kicks off Nationwide Enlightenment Campaign on National Values, Govt Policies, Others

Abuja (Core Reporters) The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has announced the commencement of a two-week nationwide enlightenment campaign aimed at instilling the right values to our youths and upholding our national symbols and identity. The campaign will also aim at flood mitigation and disaster preparedness, national security awareness, and various other critical issues across the length and breadth of the country.
Disclosing this on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at a press briefing in Abuja, the Director General, National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said that the exercise will be held across the 36 states of the federation.
The NOA boss, an advocate of the right values, also stated that the exercise will be carried down to all the 774 Local Government Areas of the country and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, “Today (Wednesday) marks the beginning of a two-week nationwide civic engagement drive across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, and across all the 774 Local Government Areas of our great country.
“This is not just another campaign-it is a coordinated national awakening that touches the very heart of our identity, safety, values, and development.”
He also said the campaign will revive the respect for our national symbols like the flag, the coat of arms, Naira etc.
Issa-Onilu, further stated that the campaign will focus on five thematic areas. Which include; National enlightenment on government policies, programmes and activities; flood mitigation and disaster preparedness; National Security Awareness; National Value Reorientation for students against sign-out practices; and Nigerian Identity project and National Symbols Campaign.
IEC materials in English and major Nigerian languages will be distributed. Radio, TV, and social media campaigns will run daily to reach Nigerians wherever they are. Feedback channels including toll-free lines and social media platforms will be open for citizens engagement.
He noted that Nigeria stands at a defining moment, saying that our democracy thrives only when citizens are informed and actively engaged. Also, our communities are safer when citizens are alert and cooperative. Our youth flourish when guided by the right values. Our heritage endures when we uphold our symbols and identity. Our lives and livelihoods are preserved when we prepare ahead of natural disasters.
NOA boss called on all Nigerians to join hands with the agency in this historic mobilization, to ignite the new spirit of patriotism, vigilance, unity, and responsibility that will carry us into a safer, stronger, and more united Nigeria “Fellow Nigerians, This campaign will succeed only if you are part of it. Seek information from credible sources. Prepare ahead of emergencies. work with Security agencies to keep our communities safe. Celebrate achievements with dignity and respect for life. Uphold and teach our national symbols to the next generation.”
In furtherance, Issa-Onilu said that the essence of the campaign is to ensure that no citizen is left in the dark. Adding that it will revive the respect for our national symbols like the flag, the coat of arms, Naira etc.
On the preparedness of the agency for the two-week campaign, Issa-Onilu said about 4000 staff of the agency have been fully mobilized to ensure that the length and breadth of the country are fully covered during the campaign.
“The agency has 818 office locations nationwide. 774 local government offices with our personnel, deeply rooted in the rural communities, engaging in community interactions, engaging in stakeholders’ mobilisation. So for this particular campaign, nearly 4,000 staff of NOA are all fully mobilised to engage in this particular event. And it is commencing by Wednesday next week,” he said.
