National Hospital Collaborates with Private Sector to Boost Healthcare Workforce
Abuja (Core Reporters) The Nigeria Government has taken a significant step in enhancing the capacity of Nigeria’s healthcare workforce. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the National Hospital and four private institutions: Nile University, Cosmopolitan University, Yangongwo College of Nursing Sciences, and Concerned Medix Foundation. This collaboration aims to increase healthcare workforce training exponentially, addressing the challenges faced by the healthcare system.

According to Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health & Social Welfare, “this partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to expanding training capacities for health workers.
“The government recognizes the importance of providing solutions to the multitude of challenges in the healthcare sector, including infrastructure, equipment, and human capital development.
“The private sector’s role in achieving the government’s objectives is crucial, as the health sector is a mixed system comprising both public and private sectors.
However, the Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital, Prof. Raji Mahmud, commended President Tinubu’s priority attention to improving the healthcare system, highlighting the significance of this collaboration in training medical students and nurses.
