NSC Confirms NFF’s Investigation By EFCC
Abuja (Core Reporters) National Sports Commission (NSC) has confirmed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is under investigation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged misappropriation of funds.
A statement from Office of the Director General National Sports Commission and signed by Micheal Obasi, says the commission frowns at the malicious headlines by some news medium that NSC is under investigation.
“The NSC found it very malicious the headlines in some online publications that reads ” The EFCC probes National Sports Commission over alleged misappropriation of funds”
“The Leadership of the NSC sees this as very unprofessional and an extreme case of distorted information and sensationalism.
“While in the body of the story, there was nowhere it explained what the headline portrayed that the newly established Sports Commission is being investigated, it is therefore very easy to conclude that the writer was intentional in a bid to malign the newly established Sports Commission.”The statement reads.
Setting the record straight, the NSC said the EFCC only asked for the Commission to furnish it with relevant documents concerning funds released to the NFF under the period under review.
“Setting the record very straight, it is important to state that the EFCC only asked the Commission to furnish it with relevant documents concerning the Nigeria Football Federation.
“The EFCC did this because the National Sports Commission is the apex body of Sports in the Country , which has all the various Sports Federations under it.”Obasi said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the statement urged the media to be accurate in their reportage
