As Ejike Ugboaja FC (EUFC’s) invitational tournament ended in Abuja on Wednesday, about nine young Nigerians picked at the scouting program will as a matter of urgency jet out of the country to join their new clubs abroad.
The three days tournament commenced on Monday in Area 3 playing ground, Abuja, where teams from Abuja and Lagos were featured.
About 70 players participated in the program, but only nine of them were picked by the scouts. And they are; Aliyu Umar, Kasim Longcat, Mohammed Raheem, Salihu Abdulafeez, Musa Baba, Idris Kyari,J ushua OdiriChukwu, Habeeb Ishiak and Williams Goodluck.
Recall that two of Ejike Ugboaja FC‘’s players are currently plying their trade with Apolonia FK, in Albania, after been picked in the last year edition of the EUFC scouting program.
However, Naim Halili (Sport Director) of Kukesi FK who led the pack of scouts to the EUFC invitation tournament said that Nigerians has raw football talents but lack the needed program to groom the players for Europe’s market.
He said, training programs here in Nigeria are eye-saw but wonders despite thay Nigerian players are still excelling in abroad. Therefore, he advice that if the right facilities and training programs are to be injected into Nigeria football space, then the country will dominate football in the world because talents are everywhere.
He urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike in collaboration with private investors to build modern facilities of football in the capital city, and make Abuja a sports destination like it’s obtain in other clines because he said, football is a big business and must be taking as such.
