J.P. Morgan Index Inclusion Signals Renewed Confidence in Nigeria’s Bond Market

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Ms Hafsat Abubakar Bakari as the Director of Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).
Ms Hafsat confirmation on Tuesday by the Senate was sequel to a letter to from President, Ahmed Tinubu requesting the screening and confirmation of Ms Hafsat Bakari as NFIU boss.
Upon reading the letter in the red chamber, the request was referred to the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes for screening.
While submitting its report on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Emmanuel Udende Menga said after a diligent scrutiny of the nominee’s credentials and being satisfied with her work experiences, the committee considered Ms Hafsat Abubakar Bakari qualified for the office.
The Senate immediately resolved to the Committee of the Whole to consider the report of the Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes committee.
Arising from the Committee of the Whole, the Senators in an overwhelming voice vote confirmed the appointment of Ms Hafsat Bakari
