The FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett C. Igweh, PSC, mini, is urging natives and residents of the territory not to participate in the nationwide protest.
This appeal was disclosed to newsmen by the Police Spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh in reaction to the planned nationwide protest scheduled to hold on 29th July 2024, as a result of the economic hardship in the country.
“The command has mobilized its personnel in strategic locations to forestall any act that will lead to brrakdown of law and order within the FCT urging residents to remain calm as the police will ensure the protection of lives and properties within the FCT”.
The Commissioner of Police further stated that “the protest could jeopardize some of our efforts and potentially lead to unrest and disruptions in the territory”.
“We are deeply concerned about the security of law-abiding citizens and their properties. Therefore, we are making a heartfelt plea for residents not to partake in the protest”.
” Furthermore, the federal government is addressing the economic challenges faced by the public and has intensified efforts in implementing measures to provide relief and support to the population. By refraining from participating in the protest, residents can help maintain peace and stability, allowing the government to focus more on its initiatives aimed at alleviating the current hardships”.
