Abuja (Core Reporters) The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on high-profile criminal activities, parading fifty (50) suspects linked to terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other offences.

At a press briefing held on April 13, 2026, at the FID-IRT Headquarters in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid disclosed the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and equipment. Items recovered include one (1) anti-aircraft launcher, seventeen (17) rifles of various models, one hundred and eleven (111) rounds of live ammunition, seventeen (17) live cartridges, nine (9) magazines, five (5) walkie-talkie communication devices, three (3) mobile phones, and one (1) vehicle.
The operations, carried out by the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), form part of a coordinated offensive targeting criminal syndicates that have long threatened national security. Since January 2026, operatives have dismantled several criminal cells and disrupted their activities across multiple states.

Among the major breakthroughs is the dismantling of a 33-member gang involved in terrorism, cattle rustling, and the violent attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State. The Force also recorded success in apprehending key suspects linked to the recent killing of three police officers attached to the Donga Divisional Headquarters in Taraba State.
In the Federal Capital Territory and neighbouring states, police operatives have intensified efforts against criminal networks involved in “one-chance” abductions, car burglaries, and the operation of illegal checkpoints. These operations have led to the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of stolen property and tools used in perpetrating these crimes.
In a related development, operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested one Nasiru Ibrahim, 25, in possession of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and eight (8) rounds of live ammunition. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect operates in the Igumale area of Benue State and is linked to a notorious bandit identified as Janari, who allegedly supplied the weapon.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Janari and other members of the syndicate, as well as to recover additional illegal arms.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to ensuring a safer Nigeria, stating that these achievements underscore the dedication of the Police in combating crime and upholding justice. He added that several suspects will soon be charged to court, while investigations continue to track down other accomplices.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its resolve to protect lives and property, emphasizing the use of both human intelligence and advanced technology to stay ahead of criminal elements.
