NISO Warns Public Against Unauthorized “Nigeria National Grid” Social Media Account

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has reiterated its disassociation from an unauthorized social media account on X (formerly Twitter) operating under the name “Nigeria National Grid,” warning the public, media organizations, and stakeholders against relying on information disseminated through the platform.
In a statement issued on June 5, 2026, NISO referenced an earlier press release dated January 17, 2026, in which it formally distanced itself from the account. The organization expressed concern that the account continues to publish what it described as misleading and unauthorized information relating to Nigeria’s power grid.
According to NISO, it does not own, manage, control, or operate the account and has no affiliation whatsoever with those behind it. The agency stressed that the individuals or entities running the account are unknown to the organization and are not authorized to represent its views, communicate on its behalf, or act under its name.
NISO urged journalists, stakeholders, and members of the public not to quote, reference, or attribute any information published on the account to NISO, emphasizing that such content does not reflect its official position, operations, or activities.
NISO further noted that, as the legal entity responsible for managing Nigeria’s national electricity grid, all official communications are disseminated exclusively through its verified platforms, including its Facebook and LinkedIn pages under Nigerian Independent System Operator, Instagram handle @officialniso_ng, X handle @OFFICIALNISO_NG, and its official website.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, accurate, and responsible communication with stakeholders and called on the public to disregard and report any unauthorized use of its identity or mandate.
