The Commissioner of Police Niger State Police Command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has urged the people of Niger state to be peaceful during and after the Sallah celebrations
He assured Nigerians that the command has put in place enough preparations to guarantee peaceful Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
Kuryas made this claim in a press release from Minna signed by the command Public Relation Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun on his behalf.
The statement reads, “Niger State Police Command reiterates its readiness to maintain appropriate security for the Sallah festival and beyond” because of the upcoming Eid al-Kabir celebration.
To maintain a tight security arrangement before, during, and after the celebration, the Command, working with other security agencies, reportedly utilized visibility policing, stop-and-search operations, and a show of force.
It also announced that police officers and tactical units from the Command, such as PMF, CTU, EOD, and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, would be stationed at Eid prayer spots, recreation areas, parks, and other open spaces around the State.
Operational directives have been handed to Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and DPOs while guaranteeing visibility policing and continuous control of the police and troops deployed for the season, the commissioner said.
Kuryas also expressed gratitude to the people of Niger for their support and urged them to continue cooperating with the state’s law enforcement and other security agencies by providing them with the necessary information to build a society free from crime.
He then wished the state’s entire Muslim Ummah a joyous and peaceful celebration.
