Keffi: Police Nab Suspects For Theft, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Recover Weapons

The Nasarawa State Police Command has recorded another operational success following the arrest of two suspects involved in criminal conspiracy, trespass, theft, and unlawful possession of a firearm in Keffi Local Government Area of the State.
This was contained in a statement signed by SP Ramhan Nansel, Nasarawa State Command Public Relations Officer on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
According to the statement, “On 30th May 2026, at about 10:30 a.m., a resident of Kofar Hausa, Keffi, reported at the Keffi Divisional Headquarters that one Shafiu Abdul-Rauf of the same area had unlawfully trespassed into his room. The complainant further stated that upon raising an alarm, the suspect fled with his Android phone.
“Acting swiftly on the report, detectives attached to the division launched an intelligence-led operation which led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Shafiu Abdul-Rauf, and one Usman Abdulmumuni, both male residents of Mayanka, Keffi.”
The statement stated that a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of One locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge; Two sharp cutlasses; One knife; Two Tecno Android phones; One Itel mobile phone; A bunch of keys; and Other incriminating items.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement in other criminal activities and to facilitate further necessary action.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the prompt response and professionalism of the officers involved in the operation. He further assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the Police in combating crime across the State.
