Integrity Test: TCN Launches Anti-Corruption policy Document

Abuja ( Core Reporters) The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), through its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), has unveiled its Anti-Corruption Policy Document at the TCN Corporate Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, integrity, and ethical conduct across the Company.

In his remarks, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of TCN, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, who was represented by the Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi, described the initiative as a significant step towards reinforcing the Company’s commitment to ethical standards and zero tolerance for corrupt practices. He noted that TCN’s credibility depends not only on what it achieves but also on how it achieves it, urging staff to familiarise themselves with the policy document and reflect on its provisions in their daily decisions and conduct.

He commended the TCN Antu Corruption and Transparency Unit and all those who contributed to the development of the document, stressing that its objective extends beyond preventing corrupt practices to fostering a culture of honesty, fairness, accountability, transparency, and professionalism.

Engr Abdulaziz called on staff to support the effective implementation of the policy and uphold its principles in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the Chairman of ACTU, TCN, Mrs. E. Benibo, said the unveiling went beyond the presentation of a policy document, describing it as a demonstration of the collective commitment of Management and staff to strengthening integrity, transparency, and accountability. She noted that corruption weakens institutions, undermines trust, and wastes valuable resources, stressing that combating it requires the commitment of every member of staff.

Presenting an overview of the policies, the representative of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and ACTU Desk Officer attached to TCN, Mrs. Monsurat Ajoke Ifeajika, highlighted the significance of the document in influencing conduct, guiding decisions, and strengthening institutional systems. She explained that the policies provide guidance on preventing, detecting, reporting, and responding to unethical and corrupt practices.

The highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of the book on anti corruption policy.
