The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has emerged as the best female squad of the year during the National CrimeWatch Award 2023.

National CrimeWatch Award is the highest gathering of crime preventers in Nigeria.

The event which was held at the Merit House, Abuja penultimate Thursday was attended by security agents, security experts and consultants in Nigeria.

Receiving the award, The Cammander, National Female Squad, CSC Imonikhe Oluwakemi appreciated  God for giving the unit the enablement to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity. She expressed gratitude to the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi who deemed it fit to establish the female squad in NSCDC.

Oluwakemi noted that the award would spur her unit to do more work pointing out that the rate of kidnapping of school children had been drastically reduced since the creation of NSCDC Female Squad.

She made it known that the Commandant General, Abubakar Ahmed Audi had established the female squad in all the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory. She added that the female squad was designed amongst other things to protect schools: both property and humans from insurgency attack. According to her, the squad had embarked on sensitization of schools on security consciousness as well as tips that would enable them remain safe, including giving out contact number for quick response in a situation of emergency.

She, however, called on Nigerians to be security conscious at all times saying that security was everybody’s business, asserting that all hands had to be on the deck to surmount insecurity.

Meanwhile, she dedicated the award to the Commandant General, Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi for creating the female squad as well as giving them the enabling environment to operate.
