CP Ajo Directs Cross River Police Commanders to Adopt Proactive Policing Against Criminals
By Raohael Ekpang
Calabar (Core Reporters) The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has directed commanders at all levels to adopt a proactive approach to policing by identifying emerging security threats early and taking decisive action to disrupt criminal activities across the state.
The directive was issued on Monday, August 24, 2026, during the Command’s weekly lecture at the Police Command Headquarters in Calabar, where the Commissioner charged senior officers and personnel to strengthen intelligence gathering, deepen community engagement and maintain heightened operational vigilance.
CP Ajo said proactive policing remained central to the Command’s strategy of preventing crime and sustaining the prevailing peace in Cross River State, stressing that commanders must not wait for criminal activities to occur before responding.
He directed officers to intensify intelligence collection within their respective areas of responsibility and promptly act on credible information capable of preventing crime and disrupting criminal networks.
The Commissioner further ordered the intensification of raid operations, particularly against criminal hideouts and emerging operational bases of criminal elements, noting that the Command must deny criminals the opportunity to establish footholds anywhere in the state.
He urged commanders to strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders and members of the communities, stressing that effective policing requires timely intelligence and strong cooperation between the police and the public.
CP Ajo reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven operations and the protection of lives and property, assuring residents that the police would remain resolute in maintaining law and order and making Cross River State increasingly hostile territory for criminal elements.
The Commissioner called on officers and men of the Command to remain professional, vigilant and responsive in the discharge of their duties.
