Highlights of Recent Police Operational Successes Across States Under IGP Disu

Abuja (Core Reporters) The Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu has released its latest 48-hour state-by-state operational summary, highlighting arrests, rescues, recoveries and investigations across the country.
The incidents include the rescue of five kidnapped victims in Benue, the recovery of a firearm in Kano, the arrest of suspects linked to kidnapping and murder in Taraba, and the rescue of two kidnapped victims in Imo State.
The summary also recorded fatal incidents involving a boat mishap in Niger, a suspected bandit attack in Bauchi, an alleged ritual killing in Osun, and other cases under investigation.

NIGER STATE – FIVE DEAD IN BOAT MISHAP
Police operatives recovered the bodies of five persons following a canoe capsizing incident in Kudi River, Shaba Woshi Village, Katcha LGA, on August 15, 2026. The deceased were buried according to Islamic rites, while the SCID Minna continued the investigation.
TARABA STATE – TWO ARRESTED OVER KIDNAPPING, MURDER
Two suspects were arrested in Maraba Kunini, Lau LGA, following credible intelligence. Police said preliminary interrogation linked the suspects to the abduction of two persons and the killing of two others at Jimlari Village.
IMO STATE – TWO KIDNAPPERS NEUTRALISED, TWO VICTIMS RESCUED
Police operatives and vigilantes rescued two kidnapped victims during a gun battle with suspected kidnappers in a forest. Two suspects were neutralised, while others escaped with gunshot injuries. One vigilante was, however, fatally wounded.
KANO STATE – SUSPECT ARRESTED, FIREARM RECOVERED AFTER WEDDING SHOOTING
Police arrested a suspect following a shooting at a wedding ceremony in Tudun Yola Bajallabe and recovered the firearm allegedly used. Four victims were taken to hospital, with one subsequently confirmed dead.
OSUN STATE – POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPECTED RITUAL KILLING
Police are investigating the discovery of an unidentified female corpse inside a church premises in Obelewo Area, Osogbo. Preliminary findings indicated that the victim had been slaughtered and her left wrist severed and removed. The corpse was deposited for autopsy.
FCT – THREE ARRESTED OVER DEATH OF SECURITY GUARD
Three suspects were arrested following a reported scuffle between a security guard and neighbours in Dawaki. The guard was rushed to a health facility, where he was pronounced dead. Police said no visible injury was observed on his body.
BAUCHI STATE – BANDITS KILL ONE, ABDUCT ANOTHER
Suspected bandits attacked Sabon Jiri Village in Duguri District. One person was shot dead after being taken to hospital, while another was abducted. Police, hunters and vigilantes have commenced operations to rescue the victim and apprehend the attackers.
ADAMAWA STATE – SUSPECT ARRESTED, WEAPON RECOVERED
Police arrested a prime suspect following a violent incident at a hotel in Girei LGA. The suspect reportedly confessed to involvement in the killing of a female victim, while the weapon allegedly used was recovered.
FCT – POLICE INVESTIGATE DROWNING OF 14-YEAR-OLD BOY
A 14-year-old boy drowned in a canal behind Millennium Park while reportedly attempting to retrieve his shoe during rainfall. His body was recovered and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His father declined an autopsy and requested the release of the corpse for burial.
BENUE STATE – FIVE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS RESCUED
Police tactical operatives, alongside other security personnel and local vigilantes, rescued five passengers abducted along the Ankpechi–Omutela highway. The victims included a four-year-old child. One victim who sustained a gunshot injury was evacuated for medical treatment.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible information.
