NIGERIAN POLICE RECORD MAJOR OPERATIONAL SUCCESSES ACROSS STATES, ARREST SUSPECTS, RECOVER ARMS, RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM

Abuja (Core Reporters) The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant operational successes across several states of the federation in the last 24 hours, leading to the arrest of criminal suspects, recovery of arms and ammunition, rescue of a kidnap victim, and ongoing investigations into serious crimes.
In Enugu State, police operatives arrested a notorious IPOB/ESN kingpin, Chinonso Umeh, popularly known as “Onye Army”, during an operation in Imo State. Recovered from the suspect were one revolver pistol, one AK-47 rifle, assorted ammunition, and charms. In a separate operation, patrol teams arrested Asanya Nnamdi and Abugu Tochukwu, recovering one pump-action gun, 22 live cartridges, one knife, one Allen key, and ₦239,200. The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Enugu, has commenced investigations.
In Kano State, police arrested Muhammad Isa (28), a suspected bandit who allegedly impersonated military personnel. Two accomplices, identified as Atiku and Alhassan, escaped and are currently being trailed. Recovered during the operation were one AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, 79 additional rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two pairs of military uniforms, three military caps, one suspected fake military identity card, one national identity card, ATM cards, and a pair of desert boots. Investigation is ongoing.
In Zamfara State, tactical police teams, working jointly with other security agencies, were deployed to suspected escape routes following a bandit attack on Geba Village. The SCID in Gusau has launched an investigation into the incident.
In Niger State, detectives responded to a report of a double homicide at Woko Village, where they visited the crime scene and evacuated the victims’ bodies to the General Hospital, New-Bussa, for autopsy. The SCID in Minna is investigating the case, while efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
In Oyo State, police operatives successfully rescued kidnapped farmer Owoade Mathew unhurt after sustained bush-combing operations. The victim has since been reunited with his family. The operation involved a combined team of police personnel, Amotekun Corps, vigilantes, and local hunters. The SCID in Ibadan is investigating both the kidnapping and an associated armed robbery case.
In Ogun State, detectives visited the scene of an armed robbery attack in Simawa. In a separate operation, they arrested Mubarak Ibrahim and Mohammed Yusuf at the Ogere Trailer Park Market over the alleged vandalism and theft of electrical infrastructure. Stolen electrical conductors and other equipment were recovered. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations by the SCID, Eleweran.
Meanwhile, in Cross River State, police tracked down and arrested Henry Erim, a suspect accused of rape. The survivor was taken to Cottage Hospital, Akpet Central, for medical examination, while the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and remains in police custody. The SCID in Calabar is handling the investigation.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information to enhance crime prevention and public safety.
