Abuja (Core Reporters) As political permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections gathers momentum, Cross River State is once again confronted with a familiar question: what kind of leadership does the state need to unlock its enormous potential and restore its place among Nigeria’s leading states?
While several names are already making the rounds, one personality whose credentials continue to attract attention is Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s governorship candidate. She is seasoned diplomat, former federal legislator, development expert and advocate for good governance, Toyo represents a blend of experience, competence and global exposure that many believe could benefit Cross River State.
Ambassador Toyo first came into national prominence during her tenure as a member of the House of Representatives, where she represented the Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency. She earned a reputation as an articulate lawmaker who consistently championed issues of transparency, accountability, women’s inclusion and sustainable development.
Her appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union further expanded her profile. The experience exposed her to governance models and development strategies that could prove valuable in addressing Cross River’s challenges.
