Female staff of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have been urged to demonstrate professionalism in their roles to strengthen their presence and influence in the workplace through confidence, discipline, and continuous self-improvement.
The Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi Fadahunsi, gave the charge during TCN’s first all-female staff meeting held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the company’s headquarters in Abuja. She described professional presence as a daily reflection of competence, credibility, and character.
She emphasised that female employees must uphold the high standards of excellence and reliability expected of the organisation.
“As women, we must be confident in expressing our knowledge and making decisions within our scope. Whether in the control room, on site, or in management meetings, let us communicate with clarity and confidence,” she said.
Fadahunsi noted that enhancing professional presence is not about competition but about strengthening collective impact.
“When we present ourselves with confidence, discipline, and excellence, we not only advance in our careers but also contribute meaningfully to the growth and reputation of the company,” she added.
She further encouraged staff to build confidence and composure across both technical and administrative roles, maintain proper dress and grooming, practise effective communication, respect organisational structures, and remain dependable. She also highlighted the importance of visibility, integrity, and continuous development.
In her presentation titled “Dressing Right: The Power of Corporate Appearance,” the General Manager, Legal/Company Secretary, Mrs. Fatima Muhtar, stressed that appearance shapes first impressions.
“Your appearance influences whether people will listen to you and can create opportunities. A polished look communicates confidence even before you speak. Keep it simple, clean, and professional,” she advised.
Also speaking, the General Manager, Medical, Dr. Agatha Edet-Ademiluyi, delivered a presentation on “Staying Healthy at Work: Managing Stress and Maintaining Good Hygiene.” She emphasised that healthy habits improve productivity and urged staff to prioritise balanced nutrition, regular exercise, routine medical check-ups, adequate rest, and effective time management to prevent burnout.
“You deserve to show up for yourself. You power the nation; now it’s time to power yourself,” she said.
Other presentations included “Respect and Building Better Work Relationships” by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, who noted that respect is a daily choice; “Promoting Transparency and Accountability” by the General Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Mrs. Jane Okemini; and “Everyone’s Role in Workplace Security” by the General Manager, Corporate Security Services, Mrs. Jemila Tani.
The meeting was attended by senior female management staff and employees from various departments at TCN headquarters.
The initiative is part of TCN’s ongoing efforts to promote gender inclusion and professional excellence across its workforce.
