Troops Foil ISWAP Infiltration in Bitta, Inflict Heavy Losses on Terrorists
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have thwarted a terrorist infiltration attempt at Bitta in Borno State, dealing another significant blow to fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The failed attack occurred when ISWAP terrorists attempted to infiltrate a military position in Sector 1 in what appeared to be a desperate effort to regain momentum following recent battlefield setbacks.
However, according to military sources, vigilant troops had anticipated the move and prepared a well-coordinated offensive-defensive strategy.
As the terrorists advanced towards the troops’ location, the soldiers launched coordinated spoiling actions that disrupted the attackers’ formation while simultaneously manoeuvring to block their withdrawal routes. The insurgents were met with overwhelming resistance and superior firepower, forcing them into a disorderly retreat after suffering significant casualties.
Military authorities said the encounter represents the third major setback for the terrorists within 24 hours, following earlier failed attacks at Banki and Azir Bridge.
The series of defeats underscores the sustained operational pressure being mounted by troops of Operation Hadin Kai across the North-East theatre, which has significantly constrained the terrorists’ ability to regroup or carry out coordinated offensives.
Troops were said to have maintained control of all strategic locations while continuing to dominate the operational environment through sustained offensive operations and strong tactical coordination.
The military high command commended the troops for their gallantry and resilience, urging them to maintain the operational momentum in ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region.
The statement was issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.
