Nasarawa State Police Command Showcases Recent Achievements
Lafia (Core Reporters) The Nasarawa State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its fight against violent crime, illegal arms trafficking, and impersonation of security personnel. The Nasarawa state commissioner of police, CP Shetima M. Jauro made this known on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in a press briefing held at the command headquarters, Shedam road, Lafia.

Some of the Key Achievements:
Recovery of Large Cache of Firearms and Ammunition in Keana LGA: On September 7, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, led a team of operatives to a forest in Keana Local Government Area, where they recovered a large cache of firearms and ammunition, including:
– 4 AK-49 rifles
– 3 AK-47 rifles
– 1 G3 rifle
– 1 Sub-Machine Gun (SMG)
– 11 magazines
– 4,046 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition
– 11 rounds of 5.5mm ammunition
– 132 rounds of 38mm ammunition
– 75 cartridges
Arrest of Gun Runner in Akwanga: On September 6, 2025, operatives arrested a gun runner, John Paul, with 5 locally fabricated rifles in his possession.
3. Arrest of Gun Manufacturers and Distributors in Lafia: On August 31, 2025, operatives arrested two notorious gun manufacturers and four major buyers and distributors of fabricated arms, recovering:
– 13 long-range single-barrel guns
– 10 short guns
– 1 revolver gun
– 3 swords
– Various criminal charms
– 3 police uniforms and a face cap
– 3 gun-manufacturing machines and tools
Arrest of Suspects for Criminal Conspiracy, Impersonation, and Possession of Suspected Stolen Vehicle: On September 7, 2025, operatives arrested three suspects who falsely claimed to be members of the Nigerian Army, recovering:
– 1 military jungle hat
– 2 military polo shirts
– 1 black shirt with Nigerian Army and Special Force inscription
