NA Troops Neutralise Militia, Recover AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition
Jos (Core Reporters) The Nigerian Army’s 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE recently neutralized an armed militia in Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. On September 4, 2025, troops arrested an armed militia with one AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition at Kaskra.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major Samson Zhakom, on Saturday, September 6, the suspect militia confessed to participating in multiple criminal activities and agreed to lead troops to their hideout to recover more weapons.
Consequently, on September 5, 2025, troops conducted a follow-up operation to the hideout. However, the militia attempted to snatch a soldier’s rifle to escape, prompting troops to neutralize them.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to secure Plateau State and its environs from armed bandits and militias. The 3 Division/JTF OPEP has been actively engaging these threats through intelligence-driven operations and community engagement.
Recall that in May 2025, troops of the 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven neutralized three bandits and recovered four AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition in Qua’an Pan LGA.
Also, on May 12, 2025, troops killed two bandits and recovered arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and seven rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, during a raid on a suspected hideout in Teng Mountain/Forest.
