Tinubu Gives Bites to Education In Ogoni Land
Approves Environmental Technology University In Ogoniland
Working to empower the Ogoni people of Rivers State and its environs, President Bola Tinubu on Monday signed to law the establishment of the Federal University of Environmental Technology, Ogoni, Rivers State.
The newly established institution is expected to focus on environmental research and technology. This is inline with the agitations of the late Ken Saro-Wiwa.
He was a Nigerian environmental activist who fought for the rights of the Ogoni people in Ogoniland. He was executed by the Nigerian military in 1995.
However, Tinubu’s approval marks a significant step towards expanding higher education opportunities in Nigeria.
The Federal University of Environmental Technology, Ogoni, joins other specialised universities across the country.
The President’s decision aligns with his administration’s commitment to advancing education and technology.
