Wike’s Ally Sen. Aduda Finally Dumps PDP For APC, Pledges Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027

A key ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, former Senator Philip Aduda has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aduda, who represented the FCT in the Senate, formally announced his defection on Tuesday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
The former Senate Minority Leader said his decision was driven by his commitment to national progress and his confidence in the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He also pledged to mobilise strong political support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reflecting on his role in the 2023 elections, Aduda noted that although he was still a PDP member at the time, he played a significant part in mobilising support for Tinubu and contributed to resolving electoral challenges.
“I played a significant role in mobilising support for Mr President during the 2023 general election. Whenever there were challenges regarding the conduct of elections, I was often at the centre of resolving them,” he said.
Aduda explained that his decision to fully align with the APC was deliberate and aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
“I have taken a deliberate decision to align fully with the APC and commit myself to working for the success of Mr President. I am confident that victory in future elections will not be difficult for us,” he added.
He described his defection as part of a broader political realignment across the country, noting that many Nigerians who believe in reform, development, and progressive governance are gravitating towards the ruling party.
According to him, the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” continues to attract widespread support due to its focus on economic restructuring and national development.
Aduda further expressed confidence that the North Central region would play a crucial role in strengthening the APC and delivering strong electoral support in the coming years.
“With the level of support we are seeing, I am confident that the North Central will strongly deliver for the APC,” he said.
