A senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, Diket Lang has said that the president of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio is running an all inclusive leadership in the red chamber.
Senator Lang who spoke with Core Reporters in Abuja on Thursday said, in the recent times, in the history of Nigerian Senate a president is not differentiating between the ruling and opposition parties.
The Senate Committee chairman on labour and productivity said, “if you check the composition of committees chairmen in this 10th Senate, you would agree with me, indeed His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio’s running a perfect all-inclusive leadership of the Senate.
“You can also see it in his convoy whenever his is traveling, both All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties’ senators are always with him on like the previous senate presidents,” he said.
“Let me tell you. Akpabio leadership is an inclusive balanced leadership of the 10th National Assembly. Balance from all aspects of life. Geopolitical zone, even from the religious perspective. I think his position as a leader of the National Assembly has balanced a lot of equations. His operations are fine.
” It is in his administration that you will find minority colleagues from opposition parties occupying strategic committees. I think it’s balance. We’re not party oriented. If we were party oriented, he would have selected all the strategic positions and then give the remaining ones to the opposition parties.
“I’m a chairman, Senate Committee on Labor and productivity. There are others in some lucrative positions. I want to assure you that I believe in the leadership of Godswill Akpabio and I believe in his thinking, I believe that he is very inclusive, although as humans, not every body will agree with one person but in all his leadership is the best Nigeria has produce in the recent times,” he said.
On the perceived too much closed door sessions of the 10th Senate, the lawmaker queried the thinking of Nigerians towards the sessions, saying that the closed door sessions were meant to diset issues that are beneficial to all citizens, therefore, while on closed door session they do tackle clause by clause of whatever issue to enable them reach a conclusion that is best for the country.
