Representation summersault: Constituents Lambast Rep Victor Abang for Marrying Third Wife
By Raphael Ekpang
Constituents of Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency, have lambasted their representative in the green chamber, Rep Victor Abang for marrying his third wife, two wives within the period of six months.
Recall that Rep Abang has a wife of twenty-year-old marriage before he came to the house of representatives in June 2023, and barely one year and six months in the Green Chamber Abang has married two additional wives.
Core Reporters report that his constituents are worrying and agitating how many wives rep Abang would likely marry before his four years tenure end.
The people of Boki where Rep Abang hailed from have expressed surprise that their son is focusing on marriages instead of prioritizing his mandate and concentrating on serving the needs of his constituents.
According to their views “Multiple marriages can bring distractions and challenges that may divert attention of representatives from the pressing issues that require their leadership and dedication.
Meanwhile, one of the constituents, Simon Dibang who spoke to Core Reporters in a telephone interview said, “We are really dumbfounded over the attitude of Hon. Victor Abang, is it that because he is given the mandate to represent us at the national assembly that is why he can no longer hold his manhood and wants to marry all women that come his way?
“I am sure Abang has forgotten that effective leadership demands focus, dedication, and a clear vision for the betterment of society. This one that he is jumping from one woman to another, how well can he be carrying his legislative, oversight and representation function again,” Dibang queried.
However, Core Reporters understand that despite the palliatives the federal government released to federal lawmakers to their constituents early this year to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal, Abang was unable to share the rice to his constituents nor carried out a serious empowerment programs in the two local government areas he represented in Abuja.
Other reps have done several empowerment programs in their respective constituencies on or before now but Abang according to his constituents is using money meant for them to pay dowries to Igbo and Obudu’s women.
Another constituent Ambrose Omah while admonishing Rep Abang said, personal affairs are important, they should not overshadow the crucial work that needs to be done in creating positive change and progress for the community he represents.
According to him, “The time to act is now, and the people of Boki/Ikom Federal constituency are counting on you to deliver impactful leadership that prioritises their welfare above all else.
“I urge you to reflect on the balance between personal matters and public service and to recommit yourself to fulfilling the trust placed in you by the electorate,” he said.
