Nigerian Navy MCIO Commander Visits Nigeria Customs Service, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command
The Commander, Materials Clearing and Inspection Office (MCIO), Nigerian Navy, Apapa, Captain U.S. Akoh, alongside his team, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command, Lagos, on Thursday, 26 March 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and working relations.

The visit provided an avenue for both organisations to discuss strategies for enhancing collaboration in port operations, maritime security, cargo monitoring, and intelligence sharing. Emphasis was placed on the need for sustained synergy among government agencies to ensure seamless trade facilitation and the protection of national economic interests.
Speaking during the visit, Captain Akoh underscored the importance of continuous collaboration among security agencies, describing government institutions as integral parts of a single system in which each unit plays a critical role. He commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its professionalism and commitment to trade facilitation and revenue generation, noting that collective effort is essential to achieving national goals.
In his response, the Customs Area Controller welcomed the Navy delegation and expressed appreciation for the enduring partnership between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Customs Service. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with relevant agencies to enhance security, promote compliance, and ensure efficient port operations.
The visit concluded with the exchange of plaques as a symbol of mutual respect and reinforced partnership, marking a renewed commitment by both agencies to work together towards safer and more efficient maritime operations.
