Labour Party Supporters in Nigeria have rejected the back door entrance of the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi into the Labour Party (LP) and Pat. Utomi.
Speaking to the media in Abuja on Saturday, a chieftain of the party Natigi Ahmed called on the NEC Chairman Barrister Julius Abure not to swallow back his spittle after letting the whole world to know that Sampson Uchenna Charles, who has allegedly sustained the Party up to this crucial election moment having been assured of being the party flag bearer for the 2023 Presidential election.
Ahmed said , there is no compromise over Hon Sampson Uchenna Charles as the Sole Presidential Candidate of the Party from South East geopolitical zone extraction, that cannot be shoved away for any other politician.
“ I am shocked that the decision makers of Labour Party, are hand in cap welcoming politicians who have lost out in their party’s , and are trying to foist such persons on Labour Party. Sammy Charles is the sole candidate as nominated by the party, has been on ground and has been taking care of the party officials and carrying their responsibilities.
“As an ardent supporter of the Labour Party and Sampson Charles no new entrant, not even Peter Obi will usurp or the hijack the party. He is not welcomed to Labour Party, he left APGA the Party that made him governor for 8 years, he went into PDP and resigned because he doesn’t want to contest under intense competition. The man he thinks he can edge out is a political bulldozer, a builder of youths in Nigeria and has been impacting on youths across Nigeria, giving succor to widows, elevating the poor both in the north, south east , south south , and south west. These politicians, where were they all these years ? they blinked their eyes to the existence of the party, see LP as a non National Party, irrelevant in the committee of political parties. The truth is that both Utomi and Obi cannot compete with Sampson Charles, who has touched lives in Nigeria. Charity it is said begins at home. Sampson is the right person for Labour Party, he is our candidate”, Ahmed said.
A political analyst who demanded for anonymity, told our reporter that Labour Party and Nigerians must not forget the massive expectations of Nigerians when the word, “Mr Intergrity” was rife in the political horizon in 2015, and its impact today”.
According to the supporter, Labour Party has its candidate in the person of Sampson Uchenna Charles and non other, he charged that “Peter Obi and Pat. Utomi should trace back their political roots to People’s Democratic Party, Utomi’s Mega Party groups and APGA Obi abandoned years back.”A party member in FCT Chapter informed our reporter that, “Hon. Sampson Charles was to the best of his knowledge the only Candidate that expressed intention and submitted his form , I know of no other, “ he said. He stated further that, LP as a political party needed strong personality that has followers cutting across ethnic barriers which is basically important for elections.”Hon. Sammy Charles as he is popularly known, has the capacity , the boldness and the financial strength to lead Labour Party to win the 2023 election. Another member of the Party, Abi Gamah said that, “ Uchenna remains an asset to accelerate the electoral gains of the Party. He averred that Obi’s entrance would not stop Sammy Charles from flying the flag of the party. He however, regretted why the Labour Party NEC are working to bring these gentlemen and successful entrepreneurs to clash when they know that no stranger will come to destabilize the Party. Agam urged the two Anambrarians to sit in a round table and resolve whatever issues that are likely to course the party to fail from its bid to clinch the 2023 presidential election, stating that they are respected sons of Ibo land for which politics cannot separate them nor destroy this bond.
