Kalu Reveals APC Strategy to Win FCT Councils Elections

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Benjamin Kalu, has revealed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s plan to win the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area councils’ elections on February 21, 2026.
Speaking at the inauguration of the APC national campaign council in Abuja on Friday, February 13, Kalu stated that the party will leverage FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s development efforts to secure votes.
Kalu highlighted the visible transformation in the FCT, citing improved infrastructure and governance, as key to the APC’s campaign strategy. “This is our campaign tool. We are going beyond posters, slogans, and radio jingles. The facts speak for themselves,” he said.

According to him, the visible transformation in the FCT has strengthened the APC’s case ahead of upcoming area council elections, expressing confidence that the party is positioned to secure victory across the six Area Councils and all council wards.
“The story that APC cannot win in Abuja belongs to the past. We are rewriting history,” he stated.
The Deputy Speaker expressed confidence that the APC will secure victory across the six Area Councils, attributing past losses to poor performance. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for making significant progress in FCT’s development.
Kalu also emphasized the administration’s efforts to end Igbo marginalization, citing his own inclusion in leadership as a symbol of unity and national belonging. He urged the Igbo community to support the APC, describing it as a platform for inclusion and development.
He affirmed that the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended the narrative of Igbo marginalisation in national governance, describing the inclusion of Igbos in leadership as a clear message of unity and national belonging.
The Deputy Speaker noted that the FCT remains Nigeria’s melting point, hosting citizens from all geopolitical zones who live, invest, and conduct business as residents.
“I am an Igbo man. I am also a Nigerian. And I am part of this government. No longer can anyone say the Igbo are not part of this administration,” he declared.
“Today, they see me every day participating in the governance of this country. That is a big message to my people — that we are not alienated or marginalised,” he added.
He called on the Igbo community in Abuja to rally behind the APC, describing the party as the platform through which inclusion, development, and democratic dividends can be sustained.
“My brothers are joining the City Boy Movement. We need partners, ambassadors, and unity to deliver the APC in the FCT,” he concluded.
