The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Federal Capital Territory, Hon Christopher Maikalangu held a security meeting with the village heads within the council. This was to enable the people have crisis-free festive period.
Addressing the village heads on Friday at Apo Town Hall, Maikalangu emphasised on the collective efforts of the people to ensure security in their various villages. He inquired from them of their various security challenges, charging them on the need to enlighten their subjects on the various security tips, reaching out to security agencies when the need arose, especially working hand in glove with the divisional police officers of their various villages, communities, districts and chiefdoms.
Meanwhile, in an interview with our correspondent, the council secretary, Hon Jafaru Gwagwa pointed out that the meeting with the traditional rulers was germane considering that the traditional rulers were the nearest leaders to the people. He added that the council would sustain any measure that would ensure security of lives and property of AMAC residents. He also advised the people to be security conscious amidst the Yuletide.
However, HRH, Esu of Jikwoi and Chairman village heads in AMAC, Prof Jetta Bawa commended the AMAC Chairman for gathering together the village heads in AMAC to hear their security challenges in their domains. He assured that the village heads would play their roles by going back to their communities and educate their subjects so that they would together surmount any form of insecurity.
He called on those celebrating the Yuletide to do so within the ambit of the law, saying that the celebration of the season should make people to behave well.
“The celebration of the birth of Jesus and the ceremony into the new year should be a period of peace, love, sharing in common and identifying with one another” He noted.
