Igoche Mark sworn in as NBBF President after emerging unopposed

To put to rest the crisis that has rocked the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) in recent times, Chairman and CEO of Mark Mentors Basketball Club, Igoche Mark and Osita Nwachukwu were on Monday sworn in as the president and vice-president of the NBBF in Abuja.

Mark emerged as the NBBF president in the election held in Abuja in line with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports directive.

The Sports Ministry has directed in a letter to basketball stakeholders in the country that the NBBF election should be held in Abuja on January 31, 2022.

However, the Chairman of the electoral committee Suleman Muhammed, the vice-chairman of the FCT Basketball Association said he was pleased that the election was free and fair in line with the Sports Ministry’s directive.

“I am very happy to see the election was conducted in line with Sports Ministry’s directive. The election was very free and fair.”Muhammed stated.

Meanwhile, Mark has promised to treat Nigerian basketball players with almost regard because they are the reason the board is constituted.

The initiator of the Mark D Ball basketball championship said, their mission is to resurrect the local basketball league in the country which has been dead for the past four years.

The players’ rep, Stanley Gumut and technical rep Scott Nnaji have all expressed confidence in the ability of Igoche Mark to take the game of basketball in Nigeria to the next level considering his past antecedents.
