CubanForeign Affairs Minister Parrilla Arrives Nigeria On Official Visit
Abuja (Core Reporters) Nigeria is welcoming the Foreign Minister of Cuba, Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, on an official visit to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. This visit highlights the strong and cordial ties between Nigeria and Cuba, built on decades of mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation.
It is worthy to note that the two nations have a history of collaboration, particularly in the fight against apartheid and support for liberation movements in Africa. During his visit, the Cuban Foreign Minister will meet with Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to explore areas of cooperation such as: Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, Science and Technology and Cultural Exchange.
The visit will also focus on enhancing collaboration within multilateral frameworks to address global challenges and promote sustainable development. Nigeria and Cuba share similar positions on global issues, including the advancement of peace, security, and sustainable development ¹.
During the visit, the Cuban Foreign Minister will meet with the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima to deliver a special message from the Government of Cuba. He is also expected to engage in high-level discussions with the President of the Senate, His Excellency, Godswill Akpabio.
“The Ministry wishes to affirm that Nigeria and Cuba are members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and Group of 77 plus China. Both countries share similar positions on numerous global issues, particularly on the advancement of global peace and security, new international order and sustainable development. Therefore, the visit of the Cuban Foreign Minister is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to reinvigorate Nigeria-Cuba relations and to foster greater South-South cooperation.
