Rt. Hon. Ochiglegor Idagbo, representing Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency at the National Assembly has boasted that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Stephen Odey at the October 31, 2020 C’River North Senatorial bye-election will cruise to victory.
Idagbo who is the chairman of Dr. Odey’s campaign team disclosed this in Abuja on Monday while fielding questions from journalists on their preparedness towards the bye-election.
According to him, “Cross River is a PDP state and the North Senatorial district is solely PDP therefore, Dr. Odey by the grace of God will win the senatorial bye-election come October 31, 2020.”
“We have flag off the campaign and we intend to tour all the local government areas within the north senatorial district, starting from Yala local government area,” he said.
On the recent outburst of honourable Jarigbe Agom on the conduct of the said primary election and his quest to seek redress in the court of law, Idagbo said, until the court said otherwise, Dr. Odey remains the candidate of PDP in the October 31, 2020 C’River North Senatorial bye-election.
He explained that there is nothing wrong if any aggrieved party is seeking a redress in the court of law for whatever reason, thereby exercising his rights as enshrined in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, but what is important is that the people have spoken.
Idagbo therefore called on the people of C’River north senatorial district to come out on the election day and vote for the PDP’s candidate so that he can continue from where the late distinguished Senator Rose Oko stopped.
It will be recalled that hon. Agom representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency at the national assembly had rejected the election after Dr. Odey was announced as the winner of the PDP C’River North Senatorial bye-election primary held in Ogoja on September 5, 2020.
It will be further recalled that Agom had already declared himself the winner of the said election before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP’s NWC announced the recognition of Dr. Odey as the winner and the candidate of the said primary election.
