Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 Rivers State election.
Declaring the result, chairman of the APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primaries Committee, Laori Kwamoti, announced that Chinda secured 268,497 valid votes to clinch the party’s ticket, having satisfied all constitutional requirements and party regulations.
According to a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Ekesunnie Caleb, Chinda contested as the sole aspirant after other contenders either withdrew from the race or stepped down.
Earlier in the day, the APC candidate voted in his hometown of Elelenwo, where he was received by a large crowd of party supporters who turned out massively for the exercise.
Speaking after his emergence, Chinda promised to govern Rivers State with the fear of God, respect for the rule of law, and accountability in governance.
He also thanked those who stepped down from the race for contributing to what he described as the peaceful and credible conduct of the primaries. He expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for finding him worthy of the ticket.
Chinda further pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on his campaign theme, “I Win, You Win.”
“It is going to be teamwork. My theme has always been ‘I win, you win.’ The party is going to sit down and chart the course and process moving forward,” he said
