By Charles Edet
The recognized sole presidential candidate of labour party(LP) Hon.Sampson Uchenna Charles has resigned his membership of the Labour Party and has withdrawn his candidature under the flagship of the Labour Party(LP). His resignation according to a statement from the office of his campaign organization emphasized that Hon. Charles, the presidential candidate decided to quit the party for several reasons which includes, the faction in the national executive council (NEC) of the Labour Party. The rancor and deepening division amongst the members , is a threat and unhealthy to the upcoming 2023 general election. The factionalized party cannot impact on its electorates , because a divided home cannot stand, particularly in an election period they cannot win.
This is part of why women and youths of Nigeria pressurized him because he is the only presidential candidate that has the national spread to win the 2023 presidential election.
These prepossess that Sampson Uchenna Charles interest is not only about a political Party because he has a conglomeration, of national youth movement who are solidly behind him in any political party he chooses to join. This is to ensure that their preferred candidate is fortified legally. His legal status in this respect will enable him to engage in consulting other political party to continue the race.
Accordingly, the jettisoned party has limited chances in the upcoming election with the resignation from the party and subsequent withdrawal of Sampson Charles, political analysts say it’s the last blow on the party’s attempt to rises from its bellied condition.
Efforts to reach the LP Party Chairman and the Secretary proved abortive.
