APC Constitutes Fact-Finding⁰, Reconciliation Committee to Resolve Anambra Leadership Crisis–Dr. Nwoye

Abuja (Core Reporters) The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, July 20, constituted a high-powered Fact-Finding and Reconciliation Committee to address the lingering leadership crisis in the party’s Anambra State chapter.
Chairman of the committee Dr. Benjamin Nwoye, who is also the deputy national chairman of the party while addressing the press said that the decision was reached at the NWC meeting on Friday, July 17, in response to the emergency situation in the state.
Members of the committee include: APC deputy national chairman (Chairman), the National Woman Leader (Member), the National Legal Adviser (Member), the National Vice Chairman (South-East, Member) and the National Secretary as the committee’s secretary.
He said the committee has been mandated to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the crisis, engage all stakeholders, reconcile aggrieved factions, and recommend lasting solutions to restore unity within the party ahead of the forthcoming elections.
“The objective is to ensure that our party remains united, that peace-building mechanisms are put in place, and that candidates who have emerged through the party’s processes can participate freely in the elections,” he said.
The committee chairman appealed to all members and stakeholders in Anambra to remain calm, stressing that the national leadership of the APC is fully aware of the crisis and has taken proactive steps to preserve peace and maintain law and order.
He disclosed that the party’s legal team had already responded to court actions filed in relation to the dispute and noted that the enforcement of one of the court orders had reportedly been stayed by the issuing court.
He also revealed that letters would be sent to party stakeholders and security agencies in Anambra State to ensure the protection of party offices and prevent any breakdown of law and order.
The committee reiterated the APC’s constitutional position that members should exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms before seeking judicial intervention.
While fielding questions from Journalists, Dr. Nwoye cautioned that resorting to the courts without first utilizing the party’s internal processes could attract consequences under the APC Constitution.
“Our assignment is first to establish the facts, determine whether the internal dispute resolution mechanisms were exhausted, and then explore avenues for reconciliation. We believe dialogue and mediation remain the best path to resolving the impasse,” he said.
The committee expressed optimism that with the cooperation of all stakeholders, the crisis would be resolved amicably, enabling the APC to present a united front ahead of the elections.
