Abia Warriors defeat Warri Wolves 4-1, move out of relegation zone

The underperformed Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors on Sunday showed class on Sunday as they humbled their visitors, Warri Wolves 4-1 in a week 11 game of the ongoing 2020/21 season.

Warri Wolves took the lead 3 minutes into the game before Abia Warriors replied 18 minutes later through Chekwuemeka Obioma before Godwin Obaje added the second goal  for the home side at added time before the break.

On resumption, both sides pressed for more goals but Godwin Obaje got his second goal of the encounter at 67 minutes before Paul Samson scored the last goal at 81 minutes for the home side.

However, the Umuahia based NPFL’s side leapfrog Warri Wolves (their week 11 victims), Plateau United and Ifeanyi Ubah Fc from the table bottom to 16th position on the log, though Warri Wolves and Plateau United in 19th and 18th positions are having one game at hands respectively.

It could be recalled that the management of Abua Warriors has insisted that Coach Imama Amapakabo men have no cause not to excel in the league having been provided with everything a team will need to do well in the league.

Meanwhile, in other games played across the country, Lobi Stars piped visiting Kano Pillars 1-0 in Makurdi, MFM defeated Adamawa United 2-0, Igawa Golden Stars 1-0Nasarawa United, while Ifeanyi Ubah 3-0Katsina United and Sunshine Stars settled for a draw against Heartland FC of Owerri
