Like a saying goes, ‘one man food is another man’s pioson’;, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District at the national assembly has made a case for the Judicial arm of government.

Sen. Nwoko who spoke passionately about the alleged judiciary’s neglect in Nigeria told online journalists in his office at the National Assembly Complex, on Wednesday in Abuja that, they (judiciary) are what they are today because of the neglect, however, he said judiciary needs to be well equipped so that they can function very effectively.

He decried the inadequate situation that the judiciary operates in Nigeria, while saying that they can actually improve their condition for effective service delivery.

According to him, “Judiciary generally is neglected in Nigeria, they are ignored, they are more like a junior partner in this whole arrangement, and it shouldn’t be so.

“Their remuneration is poor, their training is nothing to write home about. The accommodations and other things that are needed for them to function independently, comfortably, and without fear are not there.

Sen. Nwoko insisted that the judiciary should be as comfortable as other arms of government, while advocating for their budget to be as big as it can be.

He further stated that the Judiciary must be protected and empowered to operate effectively.

When asked if he was in any way  praising the Judiciary, Senator Nwoke said, “I’m not praising them but I’m telling you about the inadequate situation that they operate in. That’s what makes them do what they do.

“I know because they are not existing in isolation; we have them as friends, cousins and fellow Nigerians. We know, they complain; just that they cannot talk the way I’m talking now. So we have to talk for them”, he said.
